It's that time of year again, and this year we were able to attend Governor's Day for the SECOND time. Waaaay back, not long after S was first diagnosed with Asperger's, we had family come out to visit.  S was excited to share what we had learned about Asperger's, and Jasmine recorded it all with the camcorder.  It has taken me at least nine months to get it edited, and while I say "edited" I do not imply that I did the editing.  Brittany was kind (and patient) enough to do it for me this week.  Yay!

Swimming

I'm not sure why it is, but there is something especially cool about swimming at the hotel. Most likely it's the fact that you've been cramped in the car all day and not only is the pool a place to exercise and have fun, but it's also NOT the hotel room - which seems to be super-boring if you're a kid. :) When Dad asked us to head south with him, my plans were grand. Before last weekend, I had never seen the Pacific Ocean. I had been swimming in The Atlantic Ocean, and have been to the shore in New Jersey; but The Pacific was a whole new thing for me. Yes we are THAT good.

Jen & I noticed that ice from her parents' fridge tasted funny, so we set out to change the filter. It wasn't just a "pull the filter out, stick a new one in" filter. It was an in-line filter, meaning we had to disassemble the old filter, then assemble and install the new one. We were super proud when we finished and not only did the water line to the ice work, but the water started coming out of the water spout too (it had stopped working because the filter was too clogged)...

While hanging out with Jen & her family was a ton of fun, it was great to come home. I love my family.

So, I know that Ikea really isn't meant to play, but nobody has ever denied that it's a super-fun place to go. Because two of the big kids had recitals, Q decided she should put on a performance as well. Of course she played "Go Tell Aunt Rhodie", just like A. Organization

Despite the way my house looks right now, I happen to love organization. For months and months I have been literally battling my craft supplies. I have tried labeling bins, dedicating our extra bedroom (and therefore closet) to crafts and craft supplies, little plastic drawers, you name it. I finally realized that even if all of my craft stuff was in organized and labeled bins, I still had to move all of the bins on top in order to access the bins below them. It was SO frustrating! I resigned myself to buying a shelf for the craft room closet. After finding the perfect shelf on KSL, I purchased comic book boards to organize and store my fabric, and I found some cute containers at Ikea for more organization. I LOVE looking at my closet, and I love even more how easy it is to get to my stuff...

Brittany and I decided that we needed to go to General Conference again this spring. We decided to change one thing though, and bring R with us. I am so happy he came.

We started off by waking up early Saturday morning with plans to wait in line on Temple Square. Recent Craftiness

I have made a few things recently. I love making things. I love looking at the things I make. This is one of the things in life that makes me feel happy inside...

Skating

A & R each have a pair of roller blades. R rides around on his occassionally, but A rides on hers constantly. It was so often that I finally made her a little tote to carry her shoes in so she wasn't riding around the neighborhood with a Wal-Mart bag on her back anymore. :) Of course Q wants to be just like her older siblings, so one afternoon the big kids put skates (and a helmet, of course) on her. She did really well. :)

Biggest Loser!

Shellee and Brittany decided that they were going to try out for The Biggest Loser and asked me if I would come with them. I decided that if I was going to go, I may as well audition too. Needless to say, none of us made it. It was a super fun day though - spent acting goofy and having a good time...

Mischief-Makers

Guess which of the of my children are involved in this one. Did you guess Q? If you did, you are SO right. I've noticed a recurring theme in life with her lately. Quite often it also involves S. In fact, it almost always involves...

Winter Zoo

Q and I have been to the zoo two times this winter. The first time we went with S and Aunt K. It was SO cold! The girls were good sports though, and weren't cranky at all. They were fascinated with the animals...

BYU Basketball / Girls' Night

When I bought Andrew's Christmas present (a BYU hoodie) from the bookstore, I was given a voucher for four free basketball tickets. Andrew, being the smart cookie he is, took the vouchers right in and redeemed them for tickets to what (we had hoped) to be one BYU's biggest games. On the night of the game (BYU vs New Mexico?), he and Dad took the boys down to Provo. Mom, Brittany, A, Q, and I headed out to Burger King. Ooops. I mean Olive Garden. :) (We told A the entire ride there that we were going to the big BK. She was not happy.)

Big Girl!

Q is sort of ready to potty-train. Basically, she knows when she has to go, but she is resistant to actually GO on the potty. At any rate, we have put panties on her a couple times. One such time, she wanted me to take...

BEAT it!

Q had her first beater on February 27. I realize she is a little young, but I'm a baker. I grew up being taught to bake and taste it along the way. I will never forget my grandma teaching me to bake bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls, you name it. She ALWAYS stressed how important it was to enjoy the entire process. :) So it came to be, that Q had her first cookie dough beater. She LOVED it. Can't say I blame her. :)

Jewelry!

Last year for mothers' Day, I couldn't decide what to do for my mom. That's when Jen asked me if she could teach me how to make jewelry. Since then, jewelry-making has become something I truly LOVE to do. It is so incredibly relaxing, and the results are beautiful or super-cute jewelry...

A and I went to see The Cougarettes in Concert last month. We had a great time just being together and A has a new goal in life. She is going to be a Cougarette. While we were watching she asked me if we would come see her when she was a Cougarette...

100 Pieces of what?!

Twizzler. Okay. It's the classic "make a picture using 100 of something" assignment. A chose to make rainbow colored butterflies. We obviously chose Twizzlers to do this. The best part about this project was that on a Sunday morning I came downstairs to find Andrew handling the glue gun. Not just handling it, but handling it like a pro. He and A, along with R's input, created an adorable butterfly poster...

Poser

Because I took pictures of the girls the first time they wore their hats, Q thinks she has to pose every time she puts one on. It's pretty cute. :)

General Custer

S's book report project for the month of January was based on a historical character. He was to find a couple books about his favorite characer from history and learn about that person. S chose General George Armstrong Custer. After reading about him, the kids had to create a poster with facts about the person and then dress up as the person for a wax museum...

Toothless

I think toothless little kids are just the cutest ever. So when A's first front top tooth fell out, I took advantage of it. I told her that if she was able to get her second top front tooth out quickly, the tooth fairy would bring her an extra dollar. Shameless? Yes, I am...

Plain White T's

For my birthday, Jen took me to see the Plain White T's. (As a side note, I have to tell you that the only reason I am okay with the misuse of the apostrophe in their band name is because Jen has convinced me that it is merely there to replace the "ee" in the word "tee"...
